Dulunya ramai diantara mereka dikerumuni orang bawahan diarah kesana kemari. Perahu tidak berani digoncang kiranya perlu. Pangkat lagi dikejar. Status quo adalah jalan selamat. Kalau ada kesilapan tuding jari orang bawah. Maka herd mentality menebal. Selepas pencen pun ikut herd mentality. Kalau berseorang tidak berani bersuara. Sudah kepuncak susah jadi orang biasa buat amalan biasa. Masih hendak disanjung. Mencari isu tidak kena tempat, tidak berlandaskan bumi dipijak. Pemikiran dan hidup masih diawang2an? Walla hu alam.

It is a historical fact that the Malays on the whole are moderates in their way of life. Unavoidably, there are extremism here and there as expected in any society. Following the middle part (being moderate) as followers of Islam is a crucial factor why they manage to adapt, acquiesce, and survive confrontations against conquering forces such the Siamese and later on the Europeans. The intruders have no reason to exterminate the local populace unlike what happened to the Red Indians or Maoris.

In a wider perspective we are living in a vicious world around stoked by agendas and falsities of power, greed, ideologies, imperialism, religion that lead to confusion of the purpose of humane existence but more towards nihilism. If we are ignorant and somehow we get caught in such vortex of mankind failings then gradually we will be in sucked into destructive mode to go after each others throat. It is easy to forget that there is whole gamut of interplay of human qualities - knowledge, wisdom, tolerance, understanding, give and take, discipline, patience, mutual respect, good governance, unto you your religion, and such at conscious or subconscious level to make for harmonious living.

All communities react to extremism. It is a vicious cycle and goes full circle

Saban hari kuasa digunakan untuk menguatkan cengkaman kerana hokap jawatan. Penduduk menjadi mangsa collateral damage. UMNO akan tersungkam dengan sendirinya kerana politik kotoran akarumbinya seperti perlantikan JKKK yang disebutkan. 

Jawatankuasa masjid pun telah lama dipolitikan. Ketua Cawangan/Bahagian meletakan kuncu2 mereka sebagai pengerusi dan ahli JK. Oleh itu JK masjid tidak mengadakan mesyuarat dan perlantikan. Akaun tidak ketentuan. Qariah berpecah belah

Muhyidin mahu orang pencen gunakan kepakaran dan pengalaman untuk membangunkan negara. Maka lantas Kumpulan 25 angkat bakul sendiri dan bersuara. Kalau berseorangan tidak pernah bersuara. Ada elemen herd mentality!

Masa berjawatan ramai orang bawahan buat kerja ikut arahan. Boss dapat Tan Sri. Sudah pencen nak buat apa? Main golf? Cari kerja dan glamour? Ilmu kalau banyak elok dibukukan. Baru diakui ternama oleh khalayak ramai.

Wish I have such beautiful farms for visitation! Sorry for the disappointment. The closest I could get to temperate/subtropical small scale cultivation was in Cameron Highlands  - growing apple, strawberries, persimmon, strawberry guava, cabbages.

LIFE ON THE RIVERS OF SARAWAK

The large island of Borneo is akin to the Amazon of the East where the thick jungle is criss-crossed by many rivers and their tributaries meandering from the mountains to the sea (pic Sarawak coast).

Melanau fishermen living by Sg. Igan. The livelihood of Melanaus is always close to the water - rivers and seas.

Rivers are a means of transportation to the hinterland.

Villagers (Melanaus) use the streams and rivers to float sago logs to sago factories, Mukah (pic Melanau elderly lady tending sago logs).

Rivers provide income, recreation and beautification of the natural landscape (pic late afternoon at Kuching riverbank).

Sayang, kawan seperjuangan berpuluhan tahun semenjak dibangku sekolah hingga dalam kabinet tidak boleh pertimbangkan permohonan Tan Sri. Umum maklum sumbangan Tan Sri kapada Negara. Apalah sedikit kelonggaran melulusan pinjaman kapada orang pencen!

Katakanlah AS memang ada niat melengahkan meletakan jawatan MB dengan mengadakan perkahwinan anaknya 17 Mei. Tetapi umum dan AS maklum bahawa jawatan MBnya perlu tamat. Tidak sabarkah Najib beri 1 minggu lagi untuk AS bereskan kenduri anaknya? Dimana budibicara pemimpin? Perlu diingat walau apa pun dirancang, Allah munkin tetapkan jodoh dan kenduri anak AS pada 17hb itu! Lebih baik beri AS 1 minggu dpd BN tergugat di Terengganu.

TROUBODOUR BAJAU DI SEMPORNA

Masa berlalu tanpa disedari. September 2006, selepas melawat FELDA Sahabat, Lahad Datu ku sempat ke Semporna, timur Sabah.

Pekan Semporna dipersisiran laut.

Di perhentian bas ku berbual dengan troubodour Bajau. "Abang, nama saya Merdeka. Kalau tak percaya tengok IC." katanya. Ku terhibur dengan Merdeka - petikan gitarnya sambil menyanyi. Antara kenangan manis di Semporna.

Orang Bajau dan laut tidak berpisah. Laut merupakan tempat pencarian hidup - ikan, mutiara, agar laut. Dulunya mereka meredah laut dari pulau ke pulau melanun bila ada peluang. Budaya mereka masih selesa  di gigi laut. Rumah mereka menampakan tahap kemiskinan. Najib saban hari berlagu high income economy akan tercapai! Dia buta kehidupan 40% bilangan rakyat.

I WANNABE HERBAL THABIB?

Rafflesia flower (Bunga Pakma) has been used in traditonal medicine believed to hasten post-birth recovery and cure birth wounds. The climbing plant is parasitic and can be found in deep jungles of Sabah (Melinau Basin) and Peninsular Malaysia (Belum National Park).

Research by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) on 'Keladi tikus' (above pic) commonly found in rice fields has been found to be anti-cancer. Products are already in the market.

Below is the jungle plant that I am testing live on my family, relatives and friends. To my observation it is potent against persistent coughs caused by asthma or infections, and incontinence. According to my brother-in-law it helps to dry up pus from breast cancer.The mechanism is perhaps tightening of muscles among other things.

The herbal is prepared by boiling the leaves and the concoction taken 2-3 cups per day for 2 weeks. It tastes favourable like tea and with aroma too. I am taking the herbal 2-3 cups/week and feel I am less prone to cough-flu infections, legs not heavy and the joints stronger.

Disangkakan biawak yang didukung sebenarnya buaya keramat Sg Pahang - berpura2 tak baham tetapi bangkai anak berselerak. Ada mak kebayan ke jaga dia tak lut penabur?
